The song named "Linger" by The Cranberries was the inspiration behind this painting. It is about love, deceit and those lingering feelings of desire or of what could have been. Dolores O'Riordon's melodic and gentle voice in this song is filled with love and tenderness until you listen to the lyrics and really feel the disappointment and heartache of the failed relationship. In this painting there are splashes of colour amidst the enveloping darker and more moody tones. Every droplet of the paint is encapsulated in cranberry colour or black. They seem to be pulsating and vibrating on the panel.
