This painting was inspired by Leonard Cohen's song Hallelujah, a piece that feels timeless because it speaks to the human condition in all its complexity. Love, sorrow, longing, the shadow side of our nature-it's all there. That single word, halleluja, repeated like a prayer, carries both agony and exultation. It's powerful. It's sacred.
I wanted to translate that vibration into something visual-something that echoes the spiritual frequency of the song. That's where the influence of sacred geometry came in: a structure that holds energy, symmetry, and silence all at once.
The palette is monochromatic, reflecting the darker sides of humanity that feels especially present in our world right now. And yet, even in that darkness, there's beauty in the truth of what's being felt.
I wanted this piece to feel hypnotic. As if your eyes are drawn into the centre and then pushed right back out-as if the shape itself is breathing. A pulse. A prayer. A visual Halleluja.
