Beeswax, damar resin, pigments and shellac on cradled wood panel
2023
This piece was named after a song by Leif Vollebekk. Hungover after a night out, he wrote the song "Into the Ether". In an interview he said, " This song seems to be about nothing specific, but it kind of connects what it needs to, where it needs to". Each one of us knows the power of sadness and disappointment, and how it can make you feel like you are being pulled down by the invisible forces. In this painting, the directional lines of the shellac web create an illusion of being dragged into an abyss, and as your breath leaves your body, it dissipates into the ether.
