This painting was created with "Nothing Compares 2U" playing on repeat for two days straight, after the passing of Sinead O'Connor. Her voice-raw, magical, unforgettable, and those devastating lyrics echoed in my head, stirring something deep and unshakable. This piece carries the weight of heartbreak. The kind that strips the world of its colour, where time moves slowly through a grey-green fog of grief. There's a delicate lace-like layering across the surface, almost like tears suspended in shellac-soft, quiet, and aching.
It's a tribute not just to Sinead, but to ache of loss itself. that hollow space where memory and longing meet, and where beauty still somehow lingers.
Beeswax, damar resin, dry pigments and shellac on cradled wood panel
