This piece was inspired by a song from Michael Kiwanuka. His lyrics cut so deep that they pull out your shadow where doubt, shame, guilt, disappointment and despair live, The overwhelming sense of being swallowed by your shadow is paralyzing, as if diving off the cliff into an ice cold ocean. Seeing the briny foam at the surface as you come up for air, wanting to believe that you CAN come out on the other side.
